Professor of Economics at the University of
Susan K. Feigenbaum, Ph. D., is professor and former Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Prior to her arrival at UMSL in 1988, Feigenbaum served as the Chief of Methodology for the Maryland Health Services Cost Review Commission, the state agency responsible for regulating the state’s all-payer hospital system. Since coming to St. Louis, Feigenbaum has continued to bridge her academic research in health care finance with community-based applications. She served as Chair of the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan Board of Trustees, focusing on the medical insurance options available to state employees. For over 20 years she was a member of the University of Missouri Employee Benefits Committee, working on the transition to managed care, pharmacy benefit management, and health savings account.
Professor Feigenbaum has published in highly-ranked refereed economics journals on a variety of topics related to health care finance and delivery systems. She is an accomplished applied econometrician, as evidenced by her multiple papers in The Review of Economics and Statistics.
Professor Feigenbaum received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1980. She has received funding for her research and innovative curriculum development from the National Science Foundation and has been recognized for her excellence in teaching as a winner of the Chancellor’s and Governor’s Teaching Awards.
