Community Volunteer; owner/partner in Altair International Travel & Cruises

Barbara B. Goodman is an artist, philanthropist, community volunteer, and owner/partner in Altair International Travel & Cruises. Originally from Kansas City, MO, she received her B. A. from University of Missouri Columbia and took art classes at the Art Institute of Kansas City. A designer for Hallmark greeting cards in Kansas City, she eventually came to St. Louis to pursue graduate work in Art History at Washington University.

She has a long and distinguished history of active involvement in St. Louis organizations. She currently serves on the Executive Board of the Arts & Education Council, on the Board of Camp Wyman, Craft Alliance, the Jewish Community Foundation Advisory Board, Washington University Kemper Art Museum’s Women’s Board, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’ Friends Board, the Sheldon Arts Foundation, and the St. Louis Public Library Foundation Board.

Previously, she held positions on the Boards of Landmark Bancshares (where she was the first female Director), Magna Bancshares, Union Planters Bancshares (now Regions Bank), the Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis, Metropolitan Employment and Vocational Services, The Cedars at the JCA, and Jewish Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She was appointed by the Mayor to the Arts & Humanities Commission for the City of St. Louis, Co-chaired the Greater St. Louis Annual Book Fair, and was nominated to and participated in the year-long Danforth Leadership Program in 1979-80. Her senior year at The University of Missouri, Columbia, she was elected to “Fanfare For Fifty” as one of the fifty outstanding women on campus.
